Reference
We provide answers to reference questions to Groton residents and
non-residents alike, in person or by phone or fax. If we do not possess the
tools to provide a complete answer, we make every effort to locate the information
from another facility as we are a member of our regional library association
reference network.
Reserves
Patrons may reserve materials in person, by
phone, by emailing us at
info (at) billmemorial.org
or by managing their library account in the online catalog.
Technology
The library's ONLINE CATALOG can be accessed
from home by clicking that part of the directory on our Home page. The
Connecticut Library Network, iCONN, is an electronic card catalog with a user-friendly database which allows
patrons to search statewide for materials by subject, author, or title. It is
also accessible from the Home page.
PCs and printers are available to patrons for use in the library. Internet
access is also offered, including WiFi. Use is free, but copies are 10 cents per page
for b/w, 25 cents for color.
iCONN
The Connecticut Digital Library -- iCONN- is available from the library
and from home. Use this resource for immediate, free access to timely
and reliable full text information including homework, business, health research,
and more. Click on the icon on our Home Page and enter your barcode number
for access.
Fax
Patrons may send or receive faxes.
Fees:
First page sent: $1.00 in state, $2.00 out of state
Additional pages: $1.00 each
Each page received: $1.00
Overseas: priced accordingly
Photocopier
Patrons may make their own copies for 10 cents per copy. Enlargements
or reductions are 25 cents per copy.
Interlibrary Loan
Books located at other Connecticut libraries may be ordered via the
statewide interlibrary loan system. This service is provided for our
registered patrons.
Video and Audio Formats
We belong to a video cooperative program that provides
a variety of popular titles each month, including independent and foreign
titles. . This supplements our own growing collection of
entertainment, information, & children's videos and DVDs. We also have fiction & non-fiction
books on CD, including the Great Courses.
Museum Passes
The library has reduced admission and/or free passes to several area museums,
including Mystic Aquarium,
*Mystic Seaport,
Mashantucket Pequot Museum,
Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center, Wadsworth
Atheneum, the Maritime
Aquarium at Norwalk and the Roger
Williams Park Zoo. (*Groton Residents Only)
