Order items:
To order items for pickup, you must have a library card. If you are a Groton resident and need a card, click here. You will receive a temporary number to include in your hold request, and you will need to come in to the library in person to verify your residency when you feel safe to do so.
To place a request for items for pickup you may:
- place holds on items via the online catalog
- fill out our Contact-Free Book Pickup request form
- call the library at 860-445-0392.
Please note: items can now be transferred between libraries, but delays may occur.
Include your name, library card number, and phone number in your email request, plus the titles you want, desired format (large print, audiobook, DVD, etc), and author, if possible.
Pickup by appointment:
Once we fill your hold request, you will be contacted by a staff member to schedule a pickup day. Items will be available for pickup during our open hours,
Monday, Tuesday, & Thursday: 10 am–8 pm
Wednesday, Friday: 10 am–5 pm
Saturday: 10 am–3 pm
How to pick up materials
When it’s your pick-up appointment day, come to the front entrance of the library. Our front entrance has several steps. If you need an accommodation, please let the library staff know when you make your pick-up appointment. Your items will be placed in a paper bag labeled with the first 4 letters of your last name, and placed on a cart in the entry vestibule. The outer doors will be propped open. Please wear a face covering when picking up items and observe all posted signs. Wait until vestibule is empty, then enter, take your bag, and exit. If vestibule is NOT empty, please wait your turn, leaving at least 6 feet of space between you and other people.
If you have any questions during your pickup and do not wish to enter the library, please call us at 860-445-0392.
How to return materials:
You may return library books in our vestibule while we are open for pickup. Items will remain on your account for the cleaning period. You will not be charged fees for this time. Our Book Drop is open for after-hours returns.
Safety Information
Staff members are taking all possible precautions to fulfill your item requests. Items that are returned are cleaned prior to being checked in and reshelved.
If you have any questions or concerns, please email us or call 860-445-0392. We are happy to provide our community with materials again, and are committed to doing so responsibly.
